What is Digital Signage?

Digital signage is an information medium that is giving businesses better ways to communicate with customers. From a technology standpoint, digital signage is a term used to describe the display of advertising and/or up to the minute information on electronic devices. Typically, exterior digital signage consists of display devices that are either electronic LED message centers or LED digital billboards. Interior digital signage is generally a LCD monitor or a combination of such monitors. With digital signs, there is no standard size. Digital signs are designed to fit the particular application.

How Do Digital Signage Systems Work?
A digital signage system is often designed as a network that is created for a company interested in developing content information in one centralized location and displaying that content in multiple remote locations. For instance, a retail chain may have a graphic designer create an advertisement on his or her computer workstation at the retailer's headquarters. The design, together with the scheduling of the advertisement and its destinations, are then transmitted to the server. The server transmits the information across the internet to various media players in remote locations, such as individual stores. The media players are specialized computers that receive the advertisements/information and the scheduling orders. The media players then transmit that content information to individual LCD monitors, which display the information in high definition quality.

Hospitality Digital Signage (HDS) can help you with the entire process - from advertisement, content creation, to the scheduling software, to the server networks, to the internet connection, to the selection of the media player hardware, and finally, to the selection of the LCD display monitors. HDS provides a full service digital signage solution.
